Bandzen Coach
Coach is a chat that knows how you are doing. It is a tutor, not an examiner.
What it can see
Coach is given your situation from your own records before it answers anything:
- Your exam type, target band, test date and daily minutes.
- Your latest reading and writing estimates.
- Your most recent report — the four criteria, their comments, and the weaknesses in it.
- Your reading accuracy, broken down by question type.
That context is assembled on the server from your rows. Nothing typed into the chat can widen it, and Coach cannot see another candidate's work.
What it will not do
Coach is instructed not to claim to be an official examiner, not to guarantee you a band, and not to invent a statistic. If it does not have a figure, it says so rather than producing a plausible one.
It cannot mark an essay. Pasting one in gets you an opinion, not a report — submit it properly if you want it marked against the criteria.
Starting points
The six starters on the page are worth using, because they are the questions Coach can answer best from what it has:
- What should I study today?
- Explain my latest test
- Why do I struggle with Matching Headings?
- How do I improve my Writing?
- Give me a Speaking Part 2 question
- What is the difference between Band 6 and Band 7 Writing?
Limits
Free: 10 messages per 7 days
The meter is on the page from your first visit, and it says the exact day it resets. Coach is one of only two things metered on Free, because it is one of only two things that cost money to run.
A conversation carries 20 turns of history. Past that, the earliest exchanges drop out — so if a long conversation starts drifting, opening a fresh one with a specific question works better than pushing on.
Your messages are not stored. Only the fact that a message was sent is recorded, and only so the meter can count it.
